Apart from my theater "work" directing, choreographing and the occasionaly stage maganing gig; I perform in about 3 local plays a year.
Some years are more, some less.
In the last year my parents, who are local too, saw one show.
In the last three years my brother has seen two.
In the last ten years my sister has seen one.
I feel the need to state my sister has gone to every local High School Play in the last four years and NO, none of her children are performers.
My aunts, who live upstairs, have seen maybe 3 shows I have been in since I moved in with them over 12 years ago.
I do not even bother telling my family about an upcoming performance because I have gotten tired of hearing, "Another show?!"
I do not tell the Aunties because they always respond, "I hope you're getting paid for this!"
Meaning that I am not allowed to leave the house if I'm not working.
So when I open this Friday I will have no family members in the audience, I will have no family in the audience on any performance.
I will, however, have lots of friends watching me and supporting me and I'd like to say "Thank you!" to them all.

And just when, may I ask, will you grace the boards somewhere around our Nation's Capital, so that I can attend to see my friend perform?
XO
I have a very poor opinion of your relatives' lack of support and consideration.
I seriously gave a little thought to a flying visit just to see you perform this weekend. One day I'll be there to cheer you on :o)
Good Morning Dark Lady,
I would like to second Jims motion, how about it; Dark Lady does the Kennedy Center!
I'd be first in line for a ticket.
By the way, your previous post about your bed breaking, a Spanish Windless maybe an inexpensive fix, Google it and don't over do it.
trust me people, seeing dark lady on stage would be worth the plane ticket. she is fabulous. i am honored to have shared a stage with her.
that said, i have pretty much given up on certain family members ever attending another performance of mine. i don't know why, but i continue to inform them of my shows...hope springs eternal, i guess. however, the really important people, my friends, i can count on to be there.
you know what they say. you pick your friends.
I've always said if I want to be around strangers, I'll go to a family reunion.
Have you ever told them how you feel?
yeharr
I WOULD GO IF I COULD!
well, that's crappy. do you suppose most of them just don't enjoy theatre (aside from your sister)?
You can count me in as virtual audience who would attend if he could. I support you in spirit.
hugs
E
